Shinedown

Shinedown are a rising rockband from Jacksonville, Florida. Their style varies from hard rock to post-grunge.

Brent Smith, the singer, had already a record deal with an other band before Shinedown was officially formed. The label allowed Brent to work with other people and to form a new band. The record label's intention was to give Brent more freedom to let him develop his songwriting skills. Finally Brent formed together with Jasin Todd, Berry Kerch and Brad Stewart in 2001 the band Shinedown.

Shinedown haven't played any live shows until they released their first album "Leave a Whisper" in 2003. "Leave a Whisper" included their hit single "45". The song was banned from MTV. Many people think 45 is a gun but according to an interview Brent used the number as a metaphor for the world. Although MTV banned the song, nothing could stop the success of 45.

Right after their tour, Shinedown began to record their second single in 2005 and Zach Myers joined the band as rhtym guitarist. Their album "Us and them was released in the same year.

After the "Us and them" Tour bassist Brad Stewart left in 2007 the band. Just one year later guitarist Jasin Todd left the band. Jasin was replaced by Nick Perri in 2008 but in Dezember 2008 Nick left the band while the Sound of Madness tour.

Until now ryhtm guitarist Zach take over the part of the lead guitarist but I hope Shinedown will get a second guitarist soon.

In the same year Shinedown recorded their third album "Sound of Madness" which is so far the most successful album of the band.

The first single of the album was "Devour". Brent said in an interview Devour is a letter to the President (Bush).

Devour Devour

Suffocate your own empire

Devour Devour

It's your final hour

Recently "If I only knew" was released as the fourth single from their album "Sound of Madness".

The band writes music for everybody. They play heavy rock music but their albums also includes touching ballads. One thing all Shinedown songs have in common, they are powerful and melodic rocksongs!

Songs you should really listen to

Save Me

Fly from the inside

Please support!

My "best friend" is my dictionary (meanwhile online-dictionary)! It helps me a lot to talk to you. Please help to make it better!

Dict.cc

dict.cc is seven years old today and finally, finally, finally, it's done: The dictionary has now officially been extended to other languages (public beta). 41 language pairs already exist and new ones can be added easily (there's a wish list for new languages).

At this point I'd like to say a deep-felt thank-you to all of the participants who have been working on building up basic vocabularies for the past months. You've been fantastic - thank you very, very much!

The home page of dict.cc now displays a box to the right of the page, enabling you to choose another language pair. Only vocabularies with a verification rate of 75% or more are displayed. You can help to bring up other languages there by following the review link here. To vote for correct entries it's sufficient to submit the review form unchanged - otherwise correct the fields directly and submit. Every entry has to be checked by several participants, so the system can tolerate an occasional error. Give it a try or just have a look at it!

Dict.cc is building dictionaries for more languages than english-german. There are already a few dictionaries for other languages than english-german. For example Icelandic-English.

I guess each English-'other language' contribution will also help to improve the German-'language' dictionary.

Here is a whishlist of languages which should be added next to dict.cc

If you want contribute to one of these languages, you can add your e-mail address there. You will notified when the new dictionary is online.

For more information about dict.cc check this page. The people are doing a great job!

You can also upload audio-recordings. Audio-recordings are really helpful! Without them I would speak words like "consider" wrong. Although I'm writing a lot english, I'm not able to speak many of the words.

Idioms are always really helpful!

The only language I speak aside English and German, is a little bit French and only a few words Italian. As soon I can speak halfway French, I want to learn a Scandinavian language.

I hope  a few Finns, Norwegian and Swedish people will support dict.cc!

These languages are already online.

You can also review languages which are already online.

The more people review and contribute the better the dictionary will be!

The Boss Hoss

The Boss Hoss are seven german men who are dedicated to country rock music. Wait /(don't stop reading), this is not about normal country music! The Boss Hoss consider their music as "Country Trash Punk Rock" and it's anything but boring!

The seven german cowboys are

* Boss Burns (Alec Völkel) does vocals and plays the washboard

* Hoss Power (Sascha Vollmer) does vocals and plays acoustic guitar

* Sir Frank Doe (Ansgar Freyberg) plays drums

* Hank Williamson (Malcolm Arison / previously Hank Doodle, Mathias Fauvet) plays mandoline, washboard and harp

* Guss Brooks (André Neumann) plays acoustic bass

* Russ T. Rocket (Stefan Buehler / previously Russ T. Nail, Dean Micetich) plays electric guitar

* Ernesto Escobar de Tijuana (Tobias Fischer) does percussion

When Alec "Boss" Völkel and Sascha "Hoss" Vollmer met one evening in 2004, they came up with the idea to form a band which plays modern pop songs in country rock style. They named their band after a song by The Sonics.

In the beginning of their career they started as cover band, playing on parties..

But very soon they filled whole clubs and were featured in ARTE Tracks, an German music show. After their appearance on the show, Universal Music took notice of the band and in late 2004 The Boss Hoss signed their first record deal. Soon afterwards, they started writing their debut album "Internashville Urban Hymns", which was released the same year. Their first single was a cover version of Outkast's 'Hey ya'. The album hit #11 on the german album chart. No other coverband had ever been as successful.

Just one year after their first success, they released in 2006 their album "Rodeo Radio" which is partially written by the band.

Although the band tour extensively through this time, in only a few month they produced their third album and released it in 2007.

"Stallion Battalion" contains mostly songs written by the band. With "Stallion Battalion" The Boss Hoss proved that they are more than a cover band!

Their fourth album "Do or Die" was released in June 2009, their first album without any covers. Their sound in "Do or Die" is harder and rockier than ever.

Many people call the band ridiculous.  For sure it's uncommon for german to wear Stetson hats, tank tops and to yell yee haw but The Boss Hoss's success prove the critics wrong.

Fans love The Boss Hoss for their energetic shows. Barstools on stage become more than seats. Boss Burns seems to perform a dance while sitting. The Boss Hoss are the most entertaining band I've ever seen.

A german music journalist wrote once, "People who stand still during one of their shows are either deaf or have no feeling for rhythm. It's impossible to stand still"...and he is absolutely right! The Boss Hoss are the funniest band on stage I've ever seen.

If you are looking for the perfect party music, you too should check them out.

Guano Apes

One of the best things for german music history happened in the 90's! Henning Rümenapp, Dennis Poschwatta and Stefan Ude formed their band Guano Apes! In 1994 singer Sandra Nasi joined the band.

Guano Apes' have a unique music style which belongs to the "Crossover" genre. A lot people expect an interesting story behind their band name, but there isn't one.The band's name Guano Apes was created by combining two words they thought sounded cool.

In 1996 Guano Apes won the 'Local Heros' band contest. With the money they won, they produced their first album 'Proud like a God'. Following the release of the album in 1997, critical response was fairly muted, but soon Guano Apes gained a huge fanbase.

Their single Open your eyes hit the german top 10 charts and nothing could stop the Guano Apes.

In the same year they released their second single "Lords of the Boards". Lords of the boards is the ultimate anthem for snowboarders!

Everytime I listen to this song, I want grab a snowboard (although I can't snowboard) and do something crazy.

Guano Apes music is so powerful that it is impossible to stand still!

After extensive touring, they released in 2000 their second album "Don't give me names". The album was critically successful, earning them two awards and international success.

Only one year later an other important point in their career happened. The famous german comedian Michael Mittermeier asked the Guano Apes to record with him the song Kumba yo, originally Kumbaya. Because of their record contract the band couldn't do the song as Guano Apes. Finally they picked the name Guano Babes vs. Michael Mittermeier and recorded Kumb yo which became one more successful song.

Michael Mittermeier was at this time one of the most popular comedians in Germany. Althoug they were already becoming popular, their collaboration with Mittermeier helped Guano Apes to cement their success.

Their third album released in 2003. The title "Walk on a thin line" seeming to reflect Guano Apes career at this time. Although the album included the hit single "You can't stop me", it seemed that Guano Apes were lacking the creativity and passion of their early years.

Unexpectedly they announced in 2003 that the band were taking a break and several of the members want start solo/side projects.

In 2005 the band officially broke up, with all the members pursuiting other careers in music.

Sandra Nasi's work in particular gained mainstream attention. She released a Soloalbum and was the first singer who recorded a song with the Finnish instrumental rock band, Apocalyptica.

In 2009 the band re-united and played at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring festival. Four years after their seperation they still rock festivals like they never would have been gone!

The first time I heard Sandra Nasic's voice I was incredibly impressed- you have to listen to their songs and watch the videos to understand why Sandra Nasic is so special!

Kumba yo, by Guano Babes vs. Michael Mittermeier

Songs you should listen to:

You can't stop me

Dödel up

Open your eyes

Big in Japan (Alphaville cover)

Lords of the boards (highquality video! It takes a while to load it)

AC/DC

Anyone out there who never heard about AC/DC? AC/DC are legends of Rock who leave their marks in history since 1973!

The story of AC/DC is as long as legendary but I want keep it as short as possible.

AC/DC are playing a unique style of rock 'n' roll. In their early years people called them a punk band. The music range from rock'n'roll to blues rock to heavy metal.

The band was formed by the scotish-born brothers Malcolm and Angus Young in Sydney. Because of their sister, Angus doesn't wear a usual outift. His sister suggested he should wear his old school uniform on stage. Since then, Angus is wearing on stage a school uniform.

In 1974 Bon (Belford) Scott became the singer of AC/DC. Bon was a very charismatically man, a sex symbol of his time. With him AC/DC gained much popularity and became in 1976 one of the most popular rockbands worldwide.

With Bon Scott, AC/DC wrote their most popular songs. They didn't wrote just rock songs, they wrote rock anthems like 'Let there be rock'!

The band lived a life of drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll at this time but on 19. Februrary in 1980 everything changed.

After a night of heavy drinking Bon passed away. He asphyxiated on his vomit.

For many people, Bon Scott's death was the end for AC/DC. But they started a new era with singer Brian Johnson. Johnson never tried to be like Bon Scott. I think because of  this he was able to gain a new fan base.

They recorded with Brian the album Back in Black, which is considered as one of the best albums ever.

Since 1973 AC/DC recorded 16 studio album. Last week Brian Johnson turned 62 years old but on stage he is performing like he would be only 30 years old.

Angus young wears on stage still a school uniform.

AC/DC are classic!

I love this band for their great rock anthems. AC/DC created their own style of rock 'n' roll. In my view they are the founders of pub rock!

In 2008 these old man released their 16th album titled Black Ice and did a big world tour.

Some people may think on their concerts are only old people but in fact there are many young people. Partially there are grand parents who go with their grand childs on AC/DC concerts.

AC/DC rocks since ages. I love AC/DC since my early childhood. I bought my first AC/DC album in the age of 8. Being a AC/DC fan is like a never ending love.

At the end of every show AC/DC play their rock anthem For those about to rock, we salut you!

With this write-up I want salute you, AC/DC!

There are so many great songs you should listen to!

Highway to hell, T.N.T, Thunderstruck, Whole lotta Rosie, Let there be rock....the list is so long!

Aside from the popular AC/DC songs, are these my favourites:

Stiff upper lip

Can't stand still

The Jack

Airbourne

Arguably, Australia is the homeland of pub rock. Rock N' Roll legends like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo hailed from Oz. Until 2003 they stood alone but now Airbourne are following in their foot steps.

Ryan and Joel O'Keeffe knew at an early age that they want keep pub rock alive.

In 2003 Joel met guitarist David Roads during work in Warrnambool Hotel, and after some jam sessions asked him to join the band.

The band lacked a bass player, however the God of Rock 'n' Roll had plans for Airbourne.

While Ryan was stumbling home drunk from a party, he ran into Justin. Forming a fast friendship - as one apt to doing whilst drunk- Ryan took his new friend home. It turned out that Ryan's new friend plays bass and the band was complete.

Thank you God of Rock 'n' roll for the fortunate coincidence!

Shortly after, Airbourne released their first EP. In 2007 they released their first international Album 'Running Wild', earning them two awards and and place on the track list of 'Guitar Hero World Tour'.

Some critics panned Airbourne for being nothing more than a copy AC/DC. While listening to 'Running Wild' for the first time can easily give this impression but make time for listen closely.

It's true, Airbourne are playing pub rock like AC/DC but they don't sound like AC/DC.

If you listen to Airbourne's music, you are listening to 100% pure Rock 'n' Roll and if you go to one of their gigs, you can feel 100% pure Rock 'n' roll.

Airbourne are fast, they are wild and very powerful. As I went for the first time to one of their gigs, the atmosphere was electrifiying!

Their shows are a lot fun but beware of the front rows. It's fun there but you might get a beer shower.

Joel slop more beer into the crowd than drinking himself. Appart from that Joel is cheating! He pretended to drink wine but at the end of the show the bottle was almost full.

I enjoy their shows and their music very much. I hope more people feel the same way about this band like me.

In 2010 Airbourne will release their second album. So, ... stand up for rock 'n' roll!

Songs you should liste to:

Running Wild

Stand up for Rock 'n' roll

Black jack

Too much, Too young, Too fast (the song that's featured on Guitar Hero World Tour)

Black Stone Cherry

Black Stone Cherry is a southern rock band from Edmonton, Kentucky. They are a very exceptional band. For many young people, southern rock is a traditional or old-fashioned genre. Because of that, it's really surprising that a young band like Black Stone Cherry perform this kind of music.

None of the boys were born before 1983, but they have mastered song-writing like old-timers!

Chris Robertson (lead vocals, guitar), Ben Wells (guitar, background vocals), Jon Lawhon (bass guitar, background vocals), and John Fred Young (drums, background vocals) are writing southern rock songs which sound like southern rock, but it doesn't sound old-fashioned.

They founded Black Stone Cherry in 2001 and named their band after a cigar.

In 2007, Black Stone Cherry released their first album "Black Stone Cherry". At first, critics expected a band who played old-school southern rock music, but very soon, they noticed that they were wrong. The first album was a mixture between southern rock and modern hard rock.

One year later, Black Stone Cherry released their second album "Folklore and Supersition".

Black Stone Cherry are after all down-to-earth. That's because they have very strong family backgrounds. In many interviews, the boys are talking about their families.

It's reallly lovely to see a group of boys who are kinda proudly talking about their family. I'm sure their family backgrounds influence their song-writing a lot. For their second album, they wrote the song "Things My Father Said". It reflects pretty well the relation to their family. If you like honest rock music, you should listen to some of their songs!

My favourite songs:

Lonely Train

Blind man

Peace is free (B-side song)

5Bugs

Germany has more to offer you than Tokio Hotel and Cinema Bizarre. Introducing 5Bugs!

5 Bugs is a band from Berlin, Germany. While relatively unknown, the band has a loyal underground following! Although they write fantastic songs and are getting great reviews you will not see them on any famous TV shows. Why? 5Bbugs aren't signed to a big multi-million dollar record label. They are 5 friends who love to be independent and their music comes straight from their heart.

In 2001 Chris (voc.), Daniel, Flo, Samy and Snöt formed 5Bugs.

Their sound is rock, emo, punk rock and occasionally pop. Brave and confident they have created three albums in their own record studio without any popular directors and producers. That's one more reason why I love these boys.

5Bugs released their first album „TO NO ONE ELSE EXCEPT YOU“ in 2004. After playing more than 150 shows, they released in 2006 their second album „Tomorrow I’ll Play God“.

After many shows and gigs at festivals it was high time for the third album. Their new album is called "BEST OFF". It's not a compilation of their best songs, it's a brand new album!

In the past eight years 5Bugs have developed a large fanbase. Apart from great songs, they don't give you the feeling that you are just a fan. At their concerts, you will feel like they are your friends, having an amazin party together.

5BUGS - music for anyone who favours kick ass sound straight from the heart.

Songs you should listen to:

We stop at nothing
Wake me up after midnight (Myspace music player)

Apetit at the first sight

Just an other tragic story

Inside of me

Time to post something

Well, my computer isn't fixed so far and I can't work much with photoshop or graphic editing sofrtware but posting on Buzznet can be addictive. The voice inside tell "Post something!"

I miss the good old Buzznet times (omg, how old am I?)
Buzznet went out to a place full of creative people. There are so many stunning photos, fantastic artwork or wonderful poems but there is something gone. I can't explain what is gone.
Maybe I'm wrong because I wasn't that much online in the past month.

Today my computer seem to have a good day, so I'm going to post something :)

I hope you are all well.
I miss you a lot.

ps.

and I really miss Lol cats XD

Just want mention some things which confuses me too much!

Why the hell so many people changed their profilename? Has someone spoke a spell ... change your name...?
Like that cat?

I'm pretty curious what about all the twilight thing. Right now I can't understand why people create groups and albums about it.
I should create a "Pushing Daisies"... is there already a Dr. Who Group? *note to myself: looking for a Dr. Who Group

Last week I listened to Holy Diver from Dio. I like the song but...what the hell does Dio mean?
What about he is singing???

Holy Diver
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me

Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean

Gotta get away
Holy Diver

Shiny diamonds
Like the eyes of a cat in the black and blue
Something is coming for you

Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun 'till you see the light
Oh we will pray it's all right

Gotta get away-get away

Between the velvet lies
There's a truth that's hard as steel
The vision never dies
Life's a never ending wheel

Holy Diver
You're the star of the masquerade
No need to look so afraid

Jump on the tiger
You can feel his heart but you know he's mean
Some light can never be seen

Folklore and Supersition

Black Stone Cherry's new album Folklore and Supersition is out now also in Germany.
It's a great album but I think it isn't as good as the first album. Hard to explain why but I think it's too perfect.

I love it anyway. Blind man is a great song and our local radiostation seems to love it.

Most Memorable Forum Posts

Since I joined some groups I had the last 6 months a lot fun and I have some very memorable forum posts.
I could only make a top 5 list, I had a lot more forum posts but some people did quit the group and they got lost.
I would have 6 but I prefer the number 5.
Here are 5 reasons why I'm so addicted to Buzznet.

5. OP4am

Op4am was the first group I joined and I worried a lot about my english.
I've never been called sweetheart until this post.

4. Be Big On Buzznet- and Win A Buzznet Camera Phone

I changed number 4. The forum post of Be Big On Buzznet was much better.
I was really touched and the first thing I did was to chat with my friend Iuliana and brag about this post.
I'm such a swank.lol

2. Spanky the Monkey
Scandalous Spanky Stories.
Micheal tried to kill me! I thought I would die of laughter.

I think Micheal is genius.:)

1. QOTD
My favourite QOTD thread ever was "Should we outlaw abortion?".

It ran a little bit off topic and we talked about condoms and cervical cancer.
I wasn't able to reply to Seb's post because I lay under the desk and nearly died of laughter.

This still make me laughing so hard.

Happy New Year! - The privet hedge was burning!

Ano Novo Feliz!
¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
Glückliches Neues Jahr!
Happy New Year, everybody!

Since Australia had New Year's Eve I'm here and try to drop everybody a note at midnight.
Sorry if I forgot you or wasn't able to click the submit button at midnight.

2 hours ago my sister's boyfriend came to us totally drunk. I feel tonight like a little knight who defend his castle (my computer) from the invasor(my sister's drunk boyfriend).
While I prepared to write everybody a note Christian tried to leave the livingroom. Stupidly our door is only more than a 110 cm wide. Too small for a thin, drunken man.
After five minutes he left successfully the house with a box full of fireworks and other pyrotechnic article.

Wait:  Fireworks + drunken man - mind = ???

When I went outside with our dog Laika he and my sister were very busy to set off the fireworks.
The matches didn't work like he thought so went to a lit firework to get fire.
It was really amazing to see how the same drunken man who crashed 10 minutes ago against the door was suddenly able to run very fast away from fireworks.
Christian took one of the fireworks and put it in a bottle in the middle of our drive and set it off.
The bottle was next to the privet which started burning. Luckily it's outside cold and wet.
I went into the house and brought them a bucket water to kill the fire.
A burning privet isn't enough fun for such a night so he set off one firework which flew against the car.

I went back to my computer and began to write this journal while he left us again to visit an other party.
That's how I spent my New Year's Eve.

How did you spend your New Year's Eve?

It's right now 7 am. Happy New Year! I wish you all a great 2008.

I will go to bed now. I love you all. Goodnight/ Goodmorning...where ever you are...

Almost died because of a overdose

It's nothing serious.

I had just a overdose of attention and nice words.
They nearly killed me!

I wanted write on Monday something about my weekend.
I remember it was a nightmare but  forgot on Monday evening 'why' as I logged in on Buzznet and saw a note by Kitten which shocked me.

Congratulations!  ???

I thought only why, has anything of me being featured. I've seen nothing special on the front page.
I moved my cursor above the link and was scared!
I wasn't able to click as I saw this

I thought just "NO! It's not possible, no ,no , no..."

I felt really sick, I ate the whole day nothing and didn't believe it. Damn online community, if it would be real I would have grabbed, shook her and would have screamed it must be a joke!
I was inside very hysterical.
My mind and emotions are living in a room called body and this room was too small on Monday.
It ran the whole time against the wall.

As I have read the comments on the Buzznet Originals forum I thought I would die.
Especially the comment with the word awesome nearly killed me.

I'm not used to get so many attention and nice words and I was seriously scared of it.
I'm still a little bit scared but my mind stopped running against the wall.

It's just to sad that I missed it on the front page.

 ♥ ♥ ♥
Thank you all for your kind words.

Weird Habits or...

...the reasons why people think you're a weirdo:

1. I drink water only from bottles. I believe it don't taste so good from glasses.

2. I'm like Anne a queen of little daily accidents. A day without saying 'outch' isn't a normal day.

3. I love icecream in winter and trink hot tea in the summer.

4. I dance in the kitchen if I'm alone, especially if I bake anything.

5. I've never danced in a club. Maybe I have done it once in my childhood but I can't remember

6. I wonder too much and think too much. I have many strange ideas. I tried to tell other people my ideas but nobody understood me.

7. I have a partiallity for coats and hats. I have coats but unfortunately I haven't the money to buy a hat.

8. I'm not interested in buying shoes. To buy shoes is a nightmare.

9. I'm very chaotic, I want do everything, say everything, learn everything and I want do all at once.

10. I have a very special mood in which I used to smash colour against the wall of my room. My grandmother bought me a canvas but it is too small. I'm at the moment in this depressive mood but I have no colour and feel terrible.
